Where to stay in London
There is no shortage of accommodation in London. The nearest underground stations to the conference centre are Regent’s Park, which is about three minutes walk away, and Great Portland Street, which is only one minute. The Bakerloo line runs through Regent’s Park and the Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith and City Lines through Great Portland Street. So hotels giving easy access to one of these lines would be particularly convenient. However, the London underground is an excellent network and anywhere within walking distance of any central London underground station could work well.

Weekend closures for engineering works are not announced until a few months ahead. To check them out go to www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/standard-tube-map.pdf.

The conference bed share
I am setting up an email ring for people who want to offer accommodation in their homes, for people who would like to stay in the home of an EFTer, and for people who want to find someone with whom to share a hotel room.
When you have booked, you will be able to join an email ring to offer/ask/arrange to suit yourself.
Once you are in the loop it is up to you to ask for what you want or reply to others to whom you feel you can offer what they are asking for. What financial arrangements you make are entirely up to you. Just please be really clear in advance just what the deal you are making is. Describe what you can offer or what you want as accurately as you can. If you are offering accommodation in your home, be clear about how much you are charging and what it includes. If you are staying in someone’s home make sure you know what they are charging and what it includes. That way every deal can be win, win.
NB: There will be no monitoring or external conflict resolution on this group. It is up to you to be clear and careful and take responsibility yourself for any arrangements you make. |
